| Guitarists are quite a "rare breed", so for a player to part with his beloved axe is such a dramatic event. I for one had to go through such drama when a friend of mine suggested sending my beloved 1978 Fender USA Strat to LA Guitars. I made contact with David Lipkin from LA Guitars and spoke to him regarding work i needed done on the guitar. After only a few minutes talking to David you just knew that he indeed was absolutely the right man for the job. His knowledge, expertise, dedication and honesty shone through after only a matter of minutes. I couldn't wait to see the finished product. The guitar was returned after only a week and i was in "guitar heaven". A complete overhaul left me with basically a new guitar. I have since left my "prize possession"............. a Rory Gallagher Signature Series Custom Shop Strat, with David and he has once again delivered me a guitar which has been completely transformed, a great feel to it and a great guitar to be seen playing, a head turner! David and Haim have done an outstanding job on this fantastic guitar, which did need some small adjustments made, which only HE could do in my book, and has brought it up to perfection, a joy to play. These guys at LA Guitars are "simply THE BEST "!! Dino Mc Gartland N.Ireland |
| When you enter the workshop, you would immediately know that this is the place your musical instrument should be taken care of. Experience, dedication and love are the ingredients they inject in every job they undertake. I am fortunate enough to own an L.A. custom-made, beautiful-sounding, eight-string guitar named after my daughter, Maya. This was a great collaboration since they gave me a chance to explore on the design side, without losing sight of the most basic secrets of traditional guitar making. They are without peers. Antonio Forcione Two days with you gentlemen have resurrected the magnificent soul of this guitar – its notes ring on and on and it is such a pleasure to strum one single chord and listen to it slowly die away over a few minutes. I am so pleased with it. So thank you very much for your good work . . . Jim Drury was full of praise for the quality of your craftsmanship . . . and he wasn’t wrong! Regards, Paul Gillam |

This guitar has an enormous bass response without sounding boomy. I can recommend LA guitars for any guitar repair or Peter Ostrin PoW Guitars -Haim, gave us a guest lecture. He was awesome. He is a full time luthier and philospher in London. He really knows the shit. The class was riveting. Haim gave his views on all sorts of things from the soul of trees to his theory of 5 minutes to five. This was a great treat. Peter Ostrin's Guitar blog and other Stuff (Algranati-Guitar-Course) After searching for ages for a place to have my guitars cared for, L.A. Guitars was recommended to me and I haven't looked back. In 2002 I took an old Gibson 335 which was literally unplayable and they brought it back to life. I have had my other 'workhorse' guitars looked after by David and Haim and will not trust my gear with anyone else. They are so thorough that when I pick up a guitar they have repaired or set up they will not allow me to leave the workshop without trying it just to make sure it is right for me. I have sent several of my students to the shop as well and they have been very satisfied with the work carried out on their guitars. These guys are tops. Adam Behren |
I have used L A Strings over many years for minor repairs to my guitars. Recently, they re-varnished the table and the results to the tone quality and appearance were remarkable. It is worth a visit to their workshop which contains a trove of unexpected instruments. Alan Jones |

| 'L A GUITARS offer the best service I have ever known, nothing is ever to much trouble for them, David and Haim are so enthusiastic about their work, that I know I have come to the right place. If you're looking for honesty and craftsmanship, you have found it here. They are so skilled they can do anything from restringing a bow to creating world class instruments !!!! Kevin Prockter |
I have always insisted on my guitars being set up properly and adjusted to obtain their maximum performance and often take my guitars to various technicians for set ups, pick up changes, fret work, minor adjustments etc. A few years ago I wanted some urgent work done to an Ibanez SZ 520, which I picked up for a song and as all the local ‘techs’ in my area, were busy, decided to try ‘LA Guitars’ in North Finchley. Upon arriving I instantly encountered an incredibly warm and friendly greeting from Heim and Dave, ‘LA Guitar’s’ highly experienced guitar technicians. What instantly impressed me was the passion they had for guitars and their natural willingness to discuss all the various possibilities with me, before deciding what work needed doing. It was the type of place where my friend and I felt instantly at home and when looking at our watches, upon leaving realised, that we had been talking to them about all sorts of guitar issues for over an hour! The fret work they did to the Ibanez was extremely high quality as well and the guitar, purchased for a few hundred, now plays better than some of £1000 plus guitars I have had in the past. Since then I have always gone back to ‘LA guitars’ and refuse to go any where else. Other fine jobs they have done to many of my other guitars, include replacing pickups, split coil wiring, upgrading machine heads, bridges and nuts. Recently they put active EMG 81TWs and 89s in my Dean ML 30th anniversary and carried out special fret work to my John 5 triple Fender Deluxe in order to obtain an extremely low action without any choking out when bending the strings, despite the low fingerboard radius. It plays like a dream! If you ever need work to your guitars and want the work done by highly experienced technicians who really care about guitars and what the customer wants, I suggest you forget others and head down to LA guitars. Even if you don’t need work doing, why not take your existing guitar to them for a check up – You may walk away from these ‘guitar magicians’ with a guitar that plays better than you could have possibly imagined.
